IBRAD has celebrated International Mother Earth Day on 22nd April 2022. More than 50 participants were present in person at its campus for the celebration and many more have joined online via Zoom and Facebook Live. Sri Purnendu Basu, the eminent social worker was the Chief Guest of the program and Smt Dola Sen, MP, Rajya Sabha was the Guest of Honour. Dr Paritosh Bhattacharya, Former Director of the National Council of Organic Farming delivered the Key Note Address. Dr Aniruddha Dey, Governing Body Member of IBRAD and Chairperson PRISM delivered a Special Lecture on Climate Smart practices. School students participated in the extempore competition and were awarded.

A residential workshop was organised for the students of Indian Statistical Institute, Giridih from 6 – 8 April 2022 on ‘Project Formulation, Management and Monitoring – Ecosystem Restoration for Sustainable Tribal Development’. There were 10 students participated in the course. The training methodology focused more on active and experiential learning through practical demonstration.

IBRAD in collaboration with Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University has started a One Year Post Graduate Diploma on Sustainable Tribal Development Management from Mach 2022. The first batch of students has undergone the Residential Immersion Program at the IBRAD campus from 5 – 10 March 2022 with theory and hands-on training with the tribal farmers from different districts of West Bengal.

Completed the project Application of Blended Digital Learning Based on Science Communication For Field Capacity Development For Climate Resilient Livelihood assigned by the National Commission of Science Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India covering 10 villages in the districts of Bankura, Jhargram, Coochbehar, Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur in West Bengal. The project has demonstrated the unique method of blended digital learning for science communication for the transfer and adaption of new technologies for developing climate resilient livelihood particularly by involving the tribal communities.

Initiated the project Holistic Tribal Development: Ecosystem Restoration for SDG in March 2022 assigned by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India in eight villages in the states of Chhattisgarh and Odisha. The project is unique in terms of involving and developing capacity of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) for ecosystem restoration and climate resilient sustainable livelihood development through the transfer and adaptation of new technologies

IBRAD celebrated its Foundation Day on the 7th May 2022 at IBRAD Campus Kolkata. The Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by Dr. M. V. Rao, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of West Bengal on Community Participation for Sustainable Development. Professor Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, Sister Nivedita University Chaired the session.

A three days Residential training was held from 3 – 5 June 2022 for the tribal community members and students of Agriculture on Sustainable Tribal Development. There were 13 participants from Chhattisgarh, Odisha and West Bengal who had undergone both theory and hands-on practical training.

A one-week training for the Indian Forest Service Officers on Integrated Forest Mosaic Landscape Management for Sustainable Tribal Development was held from 23-27 May 2022 at IBRAD Campus, Kolkata. Senior officials of the rank of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Chief Conservator of Forests, Conservator of Forests and Divisional Forest Officers from nine states were present at the training.

An MoU is signed between IBRAD and Kalahandi University for introducing the
specialization of Digital Ethnography with its existing PG syllabus of Anthropology and
collaborative short courses, training and projects.

IBRAD signed an MoU with Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Deemed to be University, on 6 th July 2022 to enhance cooperation between the two institutions in the field of training and conducting research, organizing seminars/workshops, etc.
