International Mother Language Day Celebration on 21 st February 2021

21st February is celebrated as the International Mother Language Day worldwide. There are five tribal languages that are moving towards extinction in India, namely Majhi in Sikkim, Mahli language in eastern India, Koro in Arunachal Pradesh, Sidi in Gujrat and Dimasa in Assam. UNESCO has put Asur, Birhor and Korwa in its list of the world’s endangered languages. To create an awareness among the tribal people about the importance of the indigenous languages IBRAD will celebrate the Day covering the Birhor, Kamar, Lodha, Mankidia, Kutia Kond, Santhal, Gond communities in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
